Curriculum

The iBook curriculum focuses on bringing insight, history, and ideas into the peace-building process and highlighting the lives of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates. Each book features a different Laureate that youthrive has worked with for the Youth Forum at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum.

Content in the iBook includes:

  • Activities that promote peace-building

  • Leadership development ideas

  • History of the Nobel Prize

  • Strategies for action with service learning

  • Life and work of a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

Each book focuses on a different Laureate and themes based around their work.

Ideal for teachers, advisers, social justice educators, middle school, high school, and college students seeking to promote peace in their communities, we offer this resource for FREE for everyone!

We offer the iBook in two formats: a PDF file (Android/Windows) and Apple iBook format.*

For the Apple format, you must have the current version of Itunes U and iBooks on your Apple device. For the PDF, you must have the current Adobe PDF reader.

To download the book, click on the format you would like. Download should start immediately. If you are having trouble downloading, using, or otherwise technical difficulties with the files, please contact us.

*The best format is the Apple iBook Format. Some features contained in the iBook may be lost in the PDF version.

Being THe Change Course

Our Being The Change Course in iTunes U has additional resources for educators. You do not need to be enrolled in the course to access the iBook. The Course is only compatible on IPads and IPhones.

To enroll in the course and access the extra content, please use the following instructions: 

Find on your device:

  • iBooks app and iTunes U app

  • Search for both apps on your device (find searchbar by by swiping all the way right on your iPhone or iPad). They should be pre-loaded on your Apple device.

  • If they are not on your device, go to the app store on your device and download them.

  • Open the Itunes U App on your IPad or IPhone.

The following steps are alternate paths to get to the same result. You do not have to do both.

  1. Click the + to add a course

  2. Enter the enroll code:  FYE-4E3-PC4

  3. A confirmation screen will appear. Select Agree to join the course.

  1. In iTunes U app: click “Search” tab (bottom of the screen)

  2. Type in “Being the Change” (Full title: Being the Change: Exploring Leadership and the Work of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates)

  3. Click on the green book.

  4. Click “Subscribe.” You are now enrolled in the iTunes U course.

OR

After completing one of the pathways above, proceed to:

  • Open the course after it has downloaded. (under the “My Courses” tab).

  • Select Posts to “take” the course.

  • Downloads of Books and PDFs will be located in the assignments as you go through the course.
